PROVIDING HIGH QUALITY CARE FOR YOUR PRECIOUS KIDS

Classes

The curriculum at Children’s Family Center is teacher created and director approved to meet the needs and interest of each individual class. Based on Pennsylvania Early Learning Standards, Children’s Family Center focuses on a holistic approach to teaching that encourages the exploration and development of all five senses through gross motor skills, fine motor skills, cognitive development, language, creating art, and music.

Cubs

The Cubs are CFC’s 6 week to 9 month olds. The expansive classroom has separate sleep and play areas for optimal safety with lots of natural light and age appropriate toys. The schedule in the classroom is customized to each child’s individual needs. Parents are welcome to visit their child in the Cub classroom at any time and may also call the center to check on their little one at any time during the day.

Koala Bears

The Koalas are CFC’s 9- to 15-month olds. There are a lot of transitions that take place in the Koala room, including: learning to walk, sleeping on a nap cot, taking one nap per day, learning to feed themselves, and learning to drink from a sippy cup. They keep busy with many activities through the day, including: visits from our Grandbears, going for walks, playing outside, simple art projects, singing songs, and reading books.

Panda Bears

The Panda Bears are CFC’s 15- to 24-month olds. The Panda Bears keep busy with many activities throughout the day, some of which include: circle time, art projects, visits from our Grandbears, playing outside on the playground, singing songs, and reading books.

Sun Bears

The Sun Bears are CFC’s older toddlers from 2 to 3 year olds. Older toddlers are learning to become independent and we try to encourage that independence in all areas. These classes are more structured, but we realize that every day is different, just as every child is different. Each day offers opportunities for dramatic play, gross motor activities, fine motor activities, cognitive development, art, and free play.

Teddy Bears

The Teddy Bears are CFC’s Preschoolers. Each morning, between the hours of 9-11 a.m. the Teddy Bear class focuses on learning activities. These activities include: Writing, Math, Pre-reading, Art, Music, Physical Education, beginning Science, beginning Social Studies, and beginning Spanish. The other hours are spent doing fun activities such as playing on the playground, taking walks outdoors, and playing in classroom centers.

Polar Bears

The Polar Bears are CFC’s Pre-Kindergarten students. In this class the children do a lot of fun and interesting activities, building on the early reading and writing skills they learned in the Teddy Bear class.Teachers work with students in large and small groups, providing personalized instruction when needed. In addition, Polar Bear students learn new words and phrases “en español” during their weekly Spanish instruction session. During the day, they also spend time outdoors on the playground or going for walks.

Summer Bears

CFC’s school age summer camp program is for ages 6-10 (entering 1st grade-4th grade). Weekly activities include field trips, library visits, water days, and working with Grandbears at Bethany Village and Country Meadows.

Grandbears (Volunteers)

Senior citizens from the local community, assisted living facilities, or families at the center volunteer as “Grandbears” for various classrooms throughout the center. Grandbears are 55 years of age or older and undergo standard background checks.
